Porous media

With Jose Soares Andrade Jr. and Ascanio Araujo we studied filtration by applying Stokes drag on the particles by a in a porous medium fluid. The results have been published in Phys.Rev.Lett., Vol.97, p.138001 (2006).

Together with Apiano Morais we also studied the flow of Non-Newtonian fluids through a three-dimensional porous medium. Interestingly, for Bingham fluids we discovered that there exists a range of finite presure gradients for which the permeability is highest. These results were published in Phys.Rev.Lett., Vol.103, p.194502 (2009) were they were also shown on the cover shown here and discussed in Ciencia Hoje or online .
