Modelization of mineral dendrites

With Bastien Chopard and Tamas Vicsek we modelized dendrites of manganese oxyde as the one from Solnhoven (Baviera) seen on the photo. As described in our paper published in Nature, Vol.353, p.409-412 (1991) the model is based on diffusion and reaction and produces fractal patterns with a dimension that agrees with the measured ones.
